This project manifests as a performance where I engage with a hijacked rendition design I made of the ISIS flag, stripped of its destructive power. In this performance, I use my body using dancing as a method to invoke the lived trauma of living under ISIS in Syria as a queer person. The flag is a strong symbol of ISIS’s visual identity, and I wanted to shed light on the queer practices ISIS members participated in during their reign in my hometown of Raqqa city.
