This project is part of the upcoming exhibition “Resistance Eco” at Blå Stället konsthall, opening on June 12th. In this artwork, I use Arabic calligraphy to write in colloquial Arabic, which is the everyday spoken language. Traditionally, Arabic calligraphy employs only and strictly Modern Standard Arabic, particularly Fusha, which is the formal written form of the language.

I began this project in 2016, initially incorporating Japanese calligraphy into my Arabic writing. For this work, I have chosen the Kufi style, which is often found in architectural inscriptions, to convey a sense of permanence. This choice also serves as a tribute to the destruction caused by the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
