Ancestral Hunting Carpet, 2025
210 x 150 cm
Double weave, embroidery, wool, and hand-drawn patterns.
Weaved Bedouin carpet created in collaboration with Zam Stork and inspired by traditional hunting rugs. However, instead of hunting scenes, the patterns depict symbols derived from tattoos worn by members of my clan. By connecting the patterns of Bedouin tattoos with traditional textile arts, this project highlights the interplay between body and material culture. This dialogue decolonizes how we view these traditions, shifting them from the margins of history to the forefront of contemporary discourse. Through this process, the project not only preserves but revitalizes these motifs, ensuring they remain a vibrant, living practice within an evolving cultural landscape.
